Reincarnation - In Between Silence and Light
2019, oil on canvas, 36 by 48 inches
Intro:
The entrance full of light leads one to another world at the end of the present lifecycle. That will be a world of higher dimensions, where truth and happiness are revealed after all sufferings in the dark. There’s nothing that can be taken alongside when passing through the state of transcendence with the decomposition of the physical body, except for one’s memories held tightly or ignored in silence. As the decay is inevitable, the present has a meaning.
Context:
This oil painting borrows the language of architecture to embody the eternal passage between birth, death, and the afterlife. The composition is not simply an arrangement of forms, but a meditation on thresholds: the quiet interval where existence and absence meet, where silence gives way to sound, and where darkness opens to illumination. In this suspended state, time itself folds into a fragile continuum, carrying us between the visible and the invisible, the finite and the infinite.
At its heart, the painting reflects on the dialogue between our inner universe and our outer being. It evokes moments when we are compelled to face ourselves—to acknowledge our true essence, our realized and unrealized dreams, and the desires that dwell in both consciousness and the subconscious. It gestures toward the meaning of living before death, an inevitability shared by all from antiquity to the future. In this stillness, the painting acknowledges our mortality, yet gestures toward the possibility of transcendence.
For death, here, is not presented as an end. It is imagined as a passage, a door into another dimension, where light becomes the guide. At the final threshold of life, we may encounter our loved ones again, discovering that bonds of love are not dissolved by time but carried across dimensions. Before that crossing, however, we are called to live with intention—to fulfill the meaning entrusted to us, to spread love generously to those around us, and to let go of pain that has weighed heavily upon us. The light that fills this work is not only illumination but forgiveness, love, and relief. It leads us into a state of sincerity and clarity, preparing us for the final stage of near-death, where fear is quieted by compassion and release.
The scattered architectural fragments across the ground speak of the vast unknown. They are mysterious, unlabeled, timeless, suggesting ruins of a civilization never built or remnants of a future not yet lived. They point toward undiscovered realms, places where the true principles of the universe remain concealed, awaiting revelation. In their ambiguity lies a reminder: that meaning often emerges not from what is already defined but from what remains hidden, awaiting discovery.
Ultimately, Light from Within – In Between Silence and Light is both universal and deeply personal. It extends an invitation into contemplation, asking viewers to move beyond appearances and to enter the delicate space between presence and absence, certainty and mystery. It suggests that the passage through death is neither a void nor an erasure, but a transformation. In crossing the door, we do not lose ourselves. We return to the essence of being. We return to love itself.
