Brief Intro
I'm a cross-disciplinary artist, researcher, and sustainable architect. My work encompasses subtle discussions between humans and nature, both visible and invisible, and, most profoundly, life and death. The subject matters I choose are often minimal, sharp, essential, and symbolic, conveying and implying a striking sense of time and space. Through layered techniques and attention to detail, I render each work as a panorama of history, the universe, and our fragile inner world, bridging the past, present, and the future. I hold a bachelor's and a master's degree in architecture, as well as a minor in painting, from the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Rhode Island School of Design. Both universities provided me with critical training in professional, theoretical, and dialectical thinking, guiding me to develop my own aesthetic perspective gradually through various media of expression.
My oil paintings are largely architecturally inspired, yet neutral and poetic in tone. Meanwhile, my architectural designs are metaphorically centered, often drawing inspiration from paintings, illustrations, and poems I created. However, my designs are mathematical, rooted in nature at the core. This approach to working gradually shaped the philosophy of my art and design, and in turn, molded each project to be silent, gazing, meditative, accurate, and healing. Geometries embed the incredible power of perfection, harmony, and stillness, which are widely applied and experimented with in my work. Ultimately, the conclusion can be universal or personal, transcending constrained definitions of culture, gender, politics, life, and death. My work leads to a quest for meaning: the ultimate truth of the universe and the nature of love, through meditation, introspection, and inspiration.
