7. Still Life with a Feather
May. 2018, Acrylic on canvas, 36 by 36 inches
This painting was my first oil painting in my earlier learning process. The scene was captured in a silent room with a beam of light penetrating through the skylight in winter. The setting was meant to represent the symbolic states of fragility and the pause of time through a temporary composition of different still life elements. The tranquility and lightness are juxtaposed with the shifts of shadows projected on a white wall. What I was expecting viewers to experience and to see is that their dialogues with themselves are opened up, so they feel embraced and loved unconditionally by the softness and purity of this moment.
